I drink a lot of tea but had never heard of the japanese tea pet ritual! After looking at other tea pets, this is the cutest I could see anywhere online, there's nothing else like this with the little trough, and the piggies are so adorable. I can't wait to see how they change colour and texture as they keep getting 'fed' with tea. It arrived in 10 days which isn't too bad from China, and there was detailed tracking info. The box was a little dented but the item was bubble-wrapped securely and was perfect condition. Another person said they'd found the tea leaks out from the bottom of the trough - I have found that the bottom gets a little damp, as clay is porous, but I haven't had any leaks, ot probably depends how much tea you put in there at a time.

I don't get it, what if you drink non-aromatic tea? Can essential oils be put in there and work?

I bought it because I drink a lot of tea and it was cute. I finally looked up what a *tea pet* is, and how it absorbs (or "drinks") the tea into the clay, possibly changing the color/scent of it overtime, depending on what tea you use. It's glorious and I love it. I feed it my morning tea, once a day.

I saw a photo of this in a post to a Facebook tea group. I loved it and went on a quest to find one for myself. This is so cute in person! The photos do not do it justice. The coins are painted clay and not affixed, so they move around. When used during a tea session it looks like the pigs are struggling to get some tea. Shipping was fast (given current conditions) and it was packed very securely. The piece itself is solid and heavy. Highly recommend this one!
